Vista won't recognize the provided drivers
GoogleCodeExporter opened this issue · 11 comments
I follow all the steps up to installing the drivers. I extracted the zip file
and directed Windows to the specified folder for my driver, and I got
"Windows could not find driver software for your device." I don't have any
drivers installed already. Still, I downloaded USBDeview and uninstalled the
drivers that automatically show up. Still doesn't work.
Any solutions? Why won't my computer recognize these drivers?

Please provide a screen shot of your device manager highlighting the device you
are
trying to install drivers for. Thank you!

I too have the same problem... Atually in the periphals list I don't see
anything that
says "Android phone or something" just "Unknown peripheral". It may explain why
I
cannot install the driver, but I don't know what to do to fix this... Help!
Did you guys find a solution to your problem?

Please verify that "USB debugging" is checked and that once plugged into your
pc that
the notification bar states that "USB debugging connected". It sounds to me
like USB
debugging is not activated on the phone and the device drivers you are trying to
update are the storage drivers.

I have tried all the trouble shooting steps for the motorola droid on windows
vista
32 bit and I am not able to get the driver to update even if I uninstall the
current
driver listed it will say that the best driver is already installed. Please
help.

I have the same problem, windows installs it's own drivers automatically and
says
that the best driver is already installed.

As mentioned above, I couldn't get the drivers to recognize my moto droid.
Went to motorola's website downloaded the drivers and it worked just fine.
So if the drivers provided don't work. Seek out the ones provided through your
phone's manufacturer.

I get the same thing. I have a Sprint HTC Hero, that had been upgraded to
Android 2.1
I was able to use Proxoid 6mths ago, on Android 1.5 and am not sure if I was on
XP Sp3 or not then. But I am running XP 32bit Sp3 now.
With 2.1 Android I get options when plugging in USB. Charge only, HTC Sync,
Disk Drive Mount, Internet Sharing. I have tried all of these to no avail. And
Yes, I have USB Debugging selected.
When mounted I get The installation screen telling me that I already am using
the best driver available. No choice to change it. I have uninstalled the
device and tried again, And have chosen the option to pick a specific driver
instead of browsing folder for the .Inf but, get there is no driver to install
at specifie location; choosing the x86 folder.
Also, If I leave the option for Charge only, I get "hardware not installed
because the wizard can not find the necessary software"
Going directly into device Mgr, I see HTC Android Phone USB Device & Other
Devices-ADB with the Yellow-?- chose both while under one of the 4 tethered
options and tried Uninstall and then install. Only to get the same errors from
the Wizard Screen at the end.
Any Ideas?? Has something changed with Sprints specific rel. of Android 2.1 w/
Sense UI??
I didn't have Any Problem when I used this the last time. Trying to figure out
what could be different.
And I have tried both the 32 & 64 Bit to make sure. Still nothing.

I had similar problems installing on Vista. I went to htc's website and
downloaded their sync software for my incredible. Everything works now.
