Type 1 version

Opened this issue · 1 comments

I am looking at Lato for a Sunday newspaper in Sydney Australia.
I will need a Type 1 for use in the Atex system we produce the paper with.
Is there a Type 1 set available?
Also regarding a modification
My editors have requested Quotation marks and Apostrophes be as the Lato comma (with a tail)
How would these requests be handled under the license?
regards
Michael Howard

Hi there @MichaelHoward-smh! There aren't any Type 1 files, only TTF and OTF files available. The OFL 1.1 license that Lato uses (there's a copy here) states that you can modify the font, as long as the resulting font is licensed under OFL 1.1. I'm not a lawyer, so I would suggest checking the license. I've built the font from the main sources with the provided Python code, the font files are publicly available at https://github.com/applecuckoo/lato-builds.
