U̇ not available for Lato

Hello,
I am a fan of the Lato typeface and use it on a daily basis. There was a letter that I wanted to use for a personal project of mine: the Latin U with an overdot (U̇ u̇). When I found that it didn’t render properly, I looked through the glyphs available for Lato, only to notice that this character wasn’t available. It’s my hope that this letter be included as a glyph in future versions of Lato.
You must be using v1 from Google Fonts.
That version does not have a top anchor on the uppercase U
and lowercase u
.
So the /dotaccentcomb has nowhere to attach.
Get v2.015 from here:
http://www.latofonts.com/lato-free-fonts/
That U+u do have a top anchor and will work with the characters you posted.
/U/dotaccentcomb/ and /u/dotaccentcomb
Note: the v3.x fonts here in this repo also have the proper anchors, but I do not know what state these not-ready-to-release WIP fonts are in currently. I use v2.015 all the time.

I am using v2.015 and downloaded the .zip file for it from the site itself.
What application are you using?
Because it works for me.

The Microsoft 365 suite (mainly Word, Excel, and OneNote)
Interesting...
v2.015 works as expected when tested in FontLab and FontCreator.
And it works correctly in LibreOffice.
These are how I initially tested it.
But, it does not work correctly in Word 2019 on Windows 10.
And it does not work in Affinity Publisher.
But v3.100 from this repo does work in Word 2019.
And it also works in LibreOffice.
But, it still does not work in Affinity Publisher.
Not sure what is going on here, but v3.100 does work in Word.
So where do I go from here?
Because I don’t know how to rectify this issue.
The v3.100.dev fonts work in Word 2019 (and probably Word 365).
I got the fonts from here:
https://github.com/latofonts/lato-source/tree/8663b3cc1ac64882894ee59296d12c215d6d0d2f/build
Those should work for you, but I do not the overall state of those development fonts (there may be issues).
I could not find those as single characters in Unicode (or in any fonts).
What is that combination used for?
