Pasted snippet takes a new line

I have just started using Texpander following a recent move to Ubuntu from macOS where I used TextExpander. So far so good in terms of use, however I have noticed when a snippet is pasted a new line is taken.
I quite often use snippets in the terminal to paste a particular command and then I append stuff on the end e.g. when creating a new database, so how do I make it so the text gets pasted and the cursor remains at the end of the line without taking a new line?
