Small clarification

Hello, I have a small clarification. I understand correctly that I can install Fedora asahi linux on an external ssd using this method and boot from them?
I mean that it possible to install Fedora asahi linux don't on the main ssd drive, but install it on an external ssd drive?
Did I understand correctly or not?
And second little question.
How much speed currently possible of ssd via usb (on fedora asahi linux on apple silicon devices). What type of ssd better for this option. Or need something time wait for better usb/tb4 support?
Thank you very much in advance.

Yes, but you need Linux installed on the main drive first.
And that's because u-boot and m1n1 have to reside on the internal drive.
You also need to be able to update m1n1 and u-boot on the internal drive as these package are updated.
For this reason I would recommend a Minimal version of Fedora on the in internal drive either through my project or the official one
curl https://leifliddy.com/fedora.sh | sh
or
curl https://fedora-asahi-remix.org/install | sh
And then run through the installer and just create a 5GB (or larger) partition for Fedora. Then every month or so, just boot to the internal Fedora drive and run dnf upgrade
to update u-boot
and m1n1
. I mean theoretically, you could get by with a 2GB internal partition, but you want to have a bit more space just in case.
But yeah -- that's a requirement for being able to boot off a usb drive.

The usb type-c ports have supported USB3 for quite a while

However TB3/USB4 support should be added in the near future.
