remove the old files, download the repo I forked. load the extension again.
This fixes the flashing issue, but then I have another problem: my conversation is very long, and it triggers this error in the console: A page in a PDF can not be wider or taller than 14400 userUnit. jsPDF limits the width/height to 14400.
