Clarify what Mbps means

Mbps is sometimes Megabyte and sometimes megabit. What does it mean?
I would like it there for example:
- metadata description
- about/settings
- when I click on Mbps, I would like it to swap with the other unit.
How does it relate to MBps? (1000/1024 based)

I can tell you that
Mbps means Megabits per second
MBps mean MebaBytes per second
8 Mbps = 1 MBps
8 Megabits = 1 MegaByte
