PD Runner 0.3.8 sleep issue

I got 0.3.8 version via MacApp a few days ago. It works well, but it somehow interferes with my Intel iMac's sleep.
I've tested this on a fresh install of Monterey 12.5.1. The machine sleeps normally up until launching the VM through PD runner for the first time. Once I've used the app to start the VM, the machine no longer sleeps. Only the screen turns off and the exhaust fan keeps running.
Unloading the helper .plist under /Library/LaunchDaemons makes no difference.
The only way to get the iMac to sleep again properly is to remove the app including the helper tool and restarting the machine.
Any help would be appreciated.
Just wanted to add that the version 0.3.6 had no issues with sleep on Big Sur.

Installed Big Sur 11.6.8 for testing and both 0.3.6 and 0.3.8 versions cause no issues with sleep. Fan turns off normally and stays that way until the wake up.
Whereas on Monterey, only the screen turns off, system never sleeps and the fan also stays on.
