I cannot figure out a way to fix this. The libwacom-surface package refuses to install despite the dependencies it is looking for being present on the system. Any advice or debugging tips welcome. This might be an Ubuntu/APT/dpkg bug but i'm filing here in the first instance for now... Hopefully we can get this working by the time Ubuntu 22.04 releases, but I suspect this will not be possible considering the short timeline required. This system is freshly installed using the final beta of Ubuntu MATE 22.04 and updated to latest packages as of Saturday April 16th 2022.

Should be fixed with v2.2.0-2.
