subtitle forward/backward shortcut ... where the key could be Pressed'N'Held down !!!

Hi,
i love this feature where we can pause the movie and move forward/backward the subtitles by way of these shortcuts.
However out of experience i can say that the subtitles files are usually not in sync they are off by a great length. The forward shortcut 'Shift+right' and backward shortcut 'Shift+left' works one click/tap at a time, considering how off the subtitles are in sync with a movie/video ... and with half a sec jumps on each tap that is a looooooooot of taps/click on the 'right' and 'left' keys.
Wouldn't it be a great option if we could just press and hold the 'right' and 'left' keys to move the titles forwards or backwards ?
look forward to seeing a 'press and hold' implementation of the subtitle shortcut keys.
do you think a shortcut for increasing and decreasing the subtitle font size would be a value add ?
I do not think it would be useful, what if i just want to forward the movie/clip the short cuts would be better for universal pc105 keyboard shortcuts, e.g. --> [ or ] (These are the us qwerty layout and it does not matter what layout we are using) all we need is the keycode of the key which is 34 and 35.
@yunusem ...
i am sorry ... i did not understand ... what do you mean ... what wouldn't be useful ?
Changing subtitle sequence via press and hold
ok ... i have subtitle files which are off by minutes ... lets just say 2 minutes off ... 120s ...
with no press & hold - with 0.5 sec increments which deepin movie currently lets you delay or hasten a subtitle text, a 2 minute syncing will take 240 taps of a key to pull off ...
with press & hold option - forget 2 mins ... what ever minutes it may take ... with press and hold one could almost do it with 1 tap ...
so are you saying ... 240 taps and 1 tap'n'hold of a key is the same ... not useful ... really ???
try tapping your keys 240 times and then write back ...
sometimes with more than 5mins off of subtitles from the dialogue's ... i fear i'll break the key with 300 taps.
It can be bumped like with CTRL + [ (keycode: 34) and it would be 30 secs then u just need to tap 4 times. And you dont need to type bold its not a forum. All i have done is suggesting.
a press and hold is always convenient ...
could you educate me on what is 'Ctrl + (keycode 34)' ... how does one invoke that !!!
I am using KM player on windows for years it has those features and its usefull.
oh ... we aren't talking about Deepin-Movie app ... wow !!!
anyways on the usefulness of a particular option ... don't you think one needs to experience the option ... the one in question here !!!
and after that ... if one comments/suggest on its usefulness or otherwise ... makes it worthy or not ... atleast the discussion will be fruitful !!!
But If one wants to debate/argue/suggest based on ones habit ... is just wasting everybody's time !!!
This was actually my point, and what you have been doing it under this topic. Thank god u got that early.
oh ...
'ease' is the keyword here ... the press'n'hold option wasn't invented by me ... its standard implementation on 'butter' 'vlc' ... subtitle extension for youtube ... its convenient ... period ... and mortals like us find it better !!!
everything is about 'ease and simplicity' ... isn't the popularity of deepin OS established on these very principles ? and how am i or any other mortal(user) like me wrong posting a request on a forum specifically meant for that ... and deepin is what it is because of feedback ... !!!
you have a rationale to disapprove of a 'pres'n'hold' option ?
then please explain how on earth 240 taps or your 4 taps of 30sec + the additional taps needed ... depending on the precise point of sync which could be 4+30 taps minimum ... same as one or a couple of taps !!!
you see 'ease' here ? ... anywhere at all ... in comparison to a press'n'hold option ???
please enlighten me !!!
you seem to be lost man ... seriously !!!
The case u offering is very extreme just go download a more suitable subtitle man. And yes the press and hold is an opinion of yours not a standard. And finally because of The rush u have been doing, they might not be even interested. Thanx.
wow ... get a life man !!!
Are you a Coder ? ... then i guess people like you build Windows and Mac OS's ... who give a shit about the users and force their point of views on users ... or ... strike them down like you are doing here !!!
stop imagining man ... how is posting a request amount to 'rushing' ... who is rushing here ... i had just posted one initial post with no follow up post ...
and you pop up out of no where and imagine it to be rushing at things and shooting your Mac and Windows philosophies !!!
Wooooooow !!!
and you friggin have no rationale to present ... just a dodge in the the name of 'extreme-case scenario' ... classic Windows and Mac attitude !!!
I'm an official debian maintainer and developer. And you :) you cannot just keep calm.
Regards.
wow ... really ... respect ... for anybody from the open source community ... for you people's time and efforts(including yours) ...
no comparison to the devs ... but even a users time and effort should be surely worth a little(for taking the time and posting reminders/ideas to the dev community !!!)
but sorry to say maan ... your shooting down a simple request(which wasn't a rush in anyway) ...
the corollary of which is shooting down this very option present in ... 'vlc' 'butter' and the many other apps !!!
don't you think it is also shooting down the 'press'n'hold' action/instance itself ... no matter where its used ... are you really saying it is useless alltogether ?
you of all people ... a debian maintainer and developer should know better ... with every new linux distro ... the people behind are trying to break the shackles/complexities of the old and hope to make a mark.
your line of argument ... i feel was shooting down that very spirit maan ... the spirit of the free !!!
Hellooooo ...
any word on this from the Project Manager/Designer ?
the 'press-n-hold keypress' action is already functional when it comes to increasing/decreasing volume and moving the video forward/backward ... i am just requesting the same extended to the Subtitle advance/delay funtion.
multiple keystrokes to sync subtitles is wearing off my keyboard keys ... and if the 'press-n-hold' option isn't implemented ... its like leaving the "deepin movie player" without the "subtitle sync" option ...
As that will leave me with a choice between a "physically broken(worn-out) 'key'" vs the "subtitle sync" unusable !!!
PS : the latest update of the Deepin-Movie doesn't seem to have been pushed to the 'flatpak' version of the software yet ... isn't the whole idea of a flatpak application is to get the updates faster than typical update path ?
flatpak version will be updated later. actually, flatpak has a lot of problems which get in the way. 'press-n-hold' is fine. but we may not add a shortcut for increasing and decreasing the subtitle font size.
fair enough ... 'press-n-hold' is a high need ... subtitle font increasing/decreasing is at your discretion ...
hmmmmm ... delayed flatpak update is a let down ... i guess i need to install the normal version to continue testing ... until the flatpak update is pushed.

@sonald ...
seems like Press'N'Hold key on subtitle forward/backward shortcut too have slipped out of the cracks ... just like Audio Forward/Backward request
both would be a value add to this nice application ...
