Bug description
When the screen is locked, the name and password field do not appear. Only a black screen with a mouse cursor.
Steps to reproduce
Before locking we should have a clean desktop (Super + D)
When I lock the screen (Ctrl + Alt + L), I get a completely black screen where only the mouse cursor is visible. That is, there is no password field to unlock the screen.
If I immediately press Ctrl + Alt + F1 without closing the laptop lid (switch to the text console), and then back to Alt + F7 (switch to the graphics console), then a screensaver with a username and password appears and I can unlock the screen.
Expected behavior
The lock screen should immediately display a splash screen with user names and a field for entering the password to unlock.

UPDATE: I noticed that if an application is open on my screen before blocking, for example Firefox, the lock happens as it should be. If I have a clean desktop (Super + D) before blocking, then the bug always manifests itself.
I am experiencing the same issue with a laptop (Aorus 15G-XC) connected to an external 4K monitor, when the laptop's display is disabled and only the 4K one is active.
The issue wasn't present on Mint Cinnamon 21.2, but has appeared right after updating to 21.3. It's a relatively new issue.
The issue only exists with the external 4K monitor, not the laptop's own 1080p display.
This may provide some clue:
If you unplug the external monitor, the lock screen UI actually gets rendered on the main laptop display.
I have a second laptop at home that also doesn't have this issue with its own display. Haven't had a chance to test this laptop with an external monitor.
After the last update in Linux Mint () and rebooting the laptop - I no longer observe this bug.
Right now my software:
