Opening extension immediately shows "Wallet address is not valid"

Installed the extension on a Chromebook, ChromeOS 63.0.3239.140.
Opening extension immediately displays the message "Wallet address is not valid" in red typeface under the Wallet address text box.
Also, the number 17.4 is displayed in blue on the extension icon, but after a few minutes it changes to red, then green. Possibly an intended feature.

Entered a testnet address. After a short period of time, the message was changed to "no address found".
The delay seems to be the network latency between the extension and the external data sources.
Possible feature: Add a progress or timer indicator while it connects to the remote data sources and then finishes updating local storage.
