Michael requested that we write a short intro to the intention of the demo theme and base theme, to highlight that

  1. some councils might want to use the example child theme pretty much out of the box with a few small changes to logo and colour.
  2. Other councils will want to create a completely custom theme.

Hi @MichaelDCR ! Just reviewing old issues. Is this still something that you would like? If so, is this for the website, docs site or just README files on the theme repositories?

@markconroy do we already have anything along these lines?

the Docs info is light on the theme - see https://docs.localgovdrupal.org/devs/theme/ and says to use the ReadMe files - I have no idea if those are up to date? If those could be reviewed and any new info added that'd be great

We have 3 paras Mark wrote here under Theme & Design - https://localgovdrupal.org/features - but any extra info is always welcome

in fact not ReadMe files but says to read the inline code comments

I'd say we now have sufficient documentation so closing, we can open a more specific issue if there is anything missing
