Kafka 1.1 support

Kafka 1.1 was released back in late March.
Their compatibility matrix linked from our guide does not mention 1.1 compatibility (https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/KAFKA/Compatibility+Matrix). From reading http://kafka.apache.org/11/documentation.html#upgrade, it appears to be compatible with consumers 0.11 and above.
Not sure if there's anything we have to do on our end other than to bump the version and release the updated gems. This issue is created to track the work involved.
