The script doesn't seem to work on Ubuntu for Raspberry Pi 2:
rpi-serial-console status
/etc/inittab is missing

I'm afraid this script has only been tested on Raspbian so far.
Which particular "Ubuntu" are you running on your Raspberry Pi 2?

It's an Ubuntu 14.04 LTS from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/RaspberryPi .
