option or a switch to a vertical cover images

Opened this issue · 8 comments

almost always, in the real world, game cover images are vertical, reminiscent of the old days. almost every hard copy of a game has a vertical cover, as in, the disk comes in a vertical rectangle shaped piece of plastic with vertically printed art on it.

but lutris chooses horizontal covers. this makes it a chore to track down horizontal versions of game covers (if there are any for a given game) to use in the app to make the whole thing look pretty.

even steam uses vertical covers in their desktop client as per example bellow.

an option to use vertical covers or a complete switch would be a welcome addition

idk how you did that (if it's already a feature) but yes

Set the maximum zoom level on the Steam service

having this outside the Steam service also would be a welcome change and what i had in mind from the beginning

sure thing, let me pull 20000 vertical images out of thin air.

that's not what I'm asking for. I'm just asking for ability to have vertical images locally, as in, being able to select one myself and it properly displaying it. Currently if I select one, it just resizes it to this mess

I guess it's not too hard to allow for custom formats with the system currently in place

Could do what gamehub does and pull from steam, steamgrid, and google, works just fine for my gog games on it.
