Balance economy

Afer a little bit of playing on the server the inital economy is extremely slow as you don't start with any bolts and you only get 100 bolts per print off an unupgraded bolt generator.
Currently it would take a new player from placing down there first bolt generator 1H20M to get there first upgrade to this, which probably isn't to bad for a fresh server or people that already know experiment but for new players joiningit might be cause them to leave after getting raided/bolt generator destroyed as it would take another 1H20M to grind up the bolts to just get the first upgrade again.

I don't know if this is intentional or just need been balanced as of yet.

Great point, I'll increase it for now and I'll get working on working out a better balance in Excel soon.

These are the changes I'll make + current values:

  • Generator interval in seconds: changed from 600 to 300 (every 5 minutes)
  • Base produce: 100 (every 5 minutes 100 bolts, means 1200 bolts per hour)
  • First upgrade (Minor Augmentation):
    • Costs 350 bolts (should thus take 20 minutes)
    • Changed additional production from 25 to 50
  • I'll double all other upgrade production increases as well

These changes are live on the server now.

This is still a work in progress, but it allows us to get an idea of how long it takes to get a certain collection of items, based on income parameters: https://experiment.games/balancing.html (note that nothing saves if you refresh/leave the page)

My math may be off, will have to double-check when it's not late.

Closing this since it should be more balanced now. Items are a lot cheaper as well.

If anyone has any specific suggestions to make items/generators more balanced feel free to open a new issue.

Oops @Nelaif and I feel that I made it to easy to gain wealth. Currently players can gain a lot of wealth in a short time, basically reaching end-game within a couple hours.

How do others feel about this?

Reopening this ticket to track balancing the economy.

Well, at current state it is possible to gain excessive wealth in only 4 hours of uninterrupted farming. Especcially with the boltless wanderer achievement (which is corrected). In my sentiment, there must be at least 3 tiers of equipment. Which are respective to the avarage of (reasonable) farmable time.

I must also add that farming time may not be the only bottle-neck which steers players to the riches. So I suggest at least 4 hours of farming to a complete set of basic armor (medic, bandit) and pistols, ammo and kevlar, health. (in excess)

A 3x towards the seccond tier. (12h in game constant farming, only via bolt generators). Which are ?Sturdy suits? SMG's, (low) quality shotguns?

Another 3x towards tier 3 equipment which would be exo suits and full automatic weapons. So 48 hours of farming (average for exo, gun, weapons, excess of ammo, kevlar, health). We exclude monster farming to reach these goals. Considering people would need bulk shipments for their gear, they need 5 people to play 2.5 days non stop to achieve top gear.

About mob farming: I believe that after 3 hours of constant farming, monster farming should be profitable. At this point monster bolt farming = endgame bolt incomes. (which i believe is fine so far, due to the risks and costs)... (I call upon community to review)

So when push comes to shove, playing 2 weeks for 2 hours per day (28 hours) will bring you between mid game and end game results. If you farm mobs or PK, you will gain endgame results. If an epoch is 3 weeks, this gives playground for the final leaderboard results. Keep the current rate of income. Change the costs of the equipment accordingly to the individual costs of a full gear per tier of equipment. The only variables are monster hunting and teamwork.

@luttje you need to do mathematics and calqulations for the gear and all costs for farming monsters and doing war in these equations to make this suggestion work. Please share this in the discord server in your own words so the community can vote on what they see fit.

Kind regards and succes.
