Feature request: ping/generic monitor

Hi, I would like to see a graph for my ping to www.google.com. If possible make it a generic graph where the user inputs a script to be run each X seconds.

I second that request in a broader sense. For example, fbpanel has a "Generic monitor plugin" (link). It would be very useful and flexible to display output of a user specified command/script, and allow to adjust the usual visuals, like size, font, refresh interval, etc.
