Control key combinations send NUL first

In a comment on pull request #34, I reported a problem: when pressing CTRL-C, it looked as if CTRL-SPACE was pressed first, so a NUL character was sent. That was fixed. But in the latest version of PTerm, this problem seems to occur again.
