With regards to a board that uses properties to store sort order. The number of notes associated with the completed column becomes large. Every time a note is dragged to this column a priority is assigned and then all notes are updated.

Why is this needed?

Minimize syncing of board columns with many notes.

Oh thanks for sharing the case. A completed or archive column would help. Or we can add a ordered/unordered setting to column. We can trim the order value assignment on it.

A current workaround would be, stop using the order sync field. The order of cards will be noted down in data.json in Projects plugin's folder and will persist.
