Possible bug with snapshot deletion

Closed this issue · 0 comments

Hi there,

thanks for the great tool. It really helps a lot.

However in our current setup it doesn't delete all backups/snapshot as it should. I have two VMs with rather large disks (~250GB), that receive a daily backup treatment and are set to retain 3 copies. However if I have a look at the backups, I have four of them sitting around. Is it possible, that the script might be too fast when it lists the existing backups and the most recent one isn't properly registered in XenServer? Is this a known bug/issue? Any idea how I could try to locate the problem?

I already tried to add a sleep to give it some time, but that didn't help and I don't want to have the backup script sitting there waiting for a minute on each backup cycle as it has to backup other VMs as well. It's also difficult to debug afterwards because executing the xe command afterwards always list the correct number of backups (so it would delete the oldest one). Any idea what could be the issue here?
