Installation without CocoaPods?

Hi! I'm wondering if there is a way to install this on iOS without using CocoaPods? Their repo is currently over 1GB (http://stackoverflow.com/a/21852985) and it is a pain (as a beginner) to work with both CocoaPods and react-native link.
