Mischief Makers missing layers?

Not sure if it's something I screwed up or can easily fix but there seems to be missing layers i.e. during the first cutscene the room is just a yellow square and the character isnt on screen also the text either has chunks missing or has black bars going across them, sound chugs a bit until i set skip framerates to 4
