I currently like the minimalism of the site and any new APIs should take that into consideration. The idea is to give the reader a nudge so that they can understand the text.
Flickr integration and/or MediaWiki and/or Google Image Search
Wikipedia integration
Spanish/Spanish dictionary and/or databases found on ClickLex.com
Quizlet for the Word Lists: https://quizlet.com/api/2.0/docs We could leave all the flashcard and quiz stuff to quizlet and concentrate on the best reading, reacting and sharing experience. See the cool ideas section for more on reactions. This would be added to the Word lists and not necessarily the reading part of the application.
