Android Export File Option Not Working

Opened this issue · 3 comments

Hey, awesome app, can't wait to solve this issue to use it all the time! Thanks for making this awesome tool

Here's my problem, I have an old Android phone (Android 9) so I don't know if this is specific to older android phones, but let me describe the issue

When I want to save my file as .md for Obsidian sync (I have local files in my phone that sync to my computer)

However when I try to do so this is what happens:

I get sent to that sharing screen, where I have no option to export the file into my local folder.

I only get a list of other apps, none of those can save my file to the correct folder.

I'm assuming this might be an issue with Android 9, so I'd be happy with workarounds

Either way, incredible app, I'll be using it everyday for sure

I'm on Samsung's One UI, which is based on Android 12, and I have the same problem.

I have found a temporary workaround, though having direct sharing to the Files app would be ideal.

  • Install Syncthing
  • Define a shared folder in it
  • When exporting the outline, activate the "as .md file" export option
  • Send to Syncthing, which will allow you to select a folder to export the file.

thanks for the workaround @dialmove will try that out, happy to see I wasn't the only one with this issue, really hope it can be solved in the future!

My Acer Chromebook Spin 512 [Android 9 - Voiceliner version 1.21.6 - x86_64j(currently not updatable #77)] also works exactly the same as my phone.

My beloved Huawei mediapad m3 8.4" tablet(Android 7) unfortunately doesn't get shown the Voiceliner app in the app store & side-loading the 1.22.3 version from my phone fails.
