Add own feature index for `Dev Containers` to `settings.json`

Currently it is only supported to add features to the public index to appear in the feature creation UI inside of VSCode.

I would want to be able to define additional features in the settings.json. This could corporates encourage to provide their own features which are more tailored to the actual projects or in my case special hardware, but would allow the developer at the same time to use the fancy feature creation UI without making those features public.

This feature request is now a candidate for our backlog. The community has 60 days to upvote the issue. If it receives 10 upvotes we will move it to our backlog. If not, we will close it. To learn more about how we handle feature requests, please see our documentation.

Unfortunately the source code for the Dev Containers integration is not open source, because then I would even try to implement it myself.

Would be great if we could use a template index too.

+1, the ability to define custom features that are hosted in-house would be very beneficial to team productivity and further the "your team's development machine anywhere" story.

This feature request has not yet received the 10 community upvotes it takes to make to our backlog. 10 days to go. To learn more about how we handle feature requests, please see our documentation.
