Support for initialDirectory on Android/mobile

I don't have much insight into the Android API's, Is this a feasible suggestion? Or has it been neglected due to specific limitations of these platforms?

I need to select files from the app specific data folder (retrieved with getExternalStorageDirectory), however permission issues make it so that I can't manually browse to that folder.
