is there any way of just viewing a model?
i.e. a react component that loads a model file and renders it? no editing needed

Sorry to have not responded earlier, I have not been keeping a close enough eye on Mike's repo
Threat Dragon has been migrated to a new github area in the OWASP github organisation:
https://github.com/OWASP/threat-dragon
In that repo there are some FAQs that may help. Can you have a look and see if any help with your issue?
If not then raise an issue (probably a feature request).
