This was removed in order to resolve a error reported by lintian on the deb (see issue #4). It would be nice to have it back, but as fingerprint images are more commonly in lossless formats (when not WSQ-encoded), support for lossless formats other than PNG, e.g. BMP and PGM, should be prioritized over lossy JPEG.
