Package inconsistency, after installing opn-repo repository, when Zenarmor already installed
Opened this issue · 5 comments
On my OPNsense 24.7.1 installation I have Zenarmor installed (from the SunnyValley repository).
After I added this repository withfetch -o /usr/local/etc/pkg/repos/mimugmail.conf https://www.routerperformance.net/mimugmail.conf pkg update
(but didn't install any packages yet!), I clicked the "Check for Updates" command in the OPNsense admin UI and the UI suggested some new packages to install.
When I ran the "Update" process, the system installed those packages, but then immediately uninstalled them, so the next "Check for Updates" showed them once again as missing. When I removed this repo (as suggested by Franco from OPNsense), the inconsistency disappeared and the "Check for Updates" output said that everything was okay.
There's a thread on this on the OPNsense forum at https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=42283.0 , which contains all the pertinent details and logs.
Franco suggested that there might be a version/dependency conflict between the SunnyValley (ZenArmor) repository and the opn-repo and that you might be able to help. That's why I'm filing this issue here.
If you could take a look at the OPNsense forum thread and weigh in that would be great.
Thanks so much in advance for your help.
I like to add this forum post also, it has some log files about what is happening,

I run into the same issue by installing os-homeassistant-maxit
Could we get some sort of an update? Franco, the dev on opnsense, is stating in the above forum thread:
Geez, it has been said a hundred times that mimugmail packages are out of date and cause this. I mean you can clearly see from the output that it's bouncing around between "mimugmail" and "SunnyValley".
Add third party repos, please deal with your breakage.
So in his mind this repo is breaking things and this needs to be fixed by this maintainer. Frankly, I agree with him, since I experience this issue only with this repo enabled.
Logs please
Logs please
I think the OP stated in his first post that there are logs in the forum post they linked. You replied at the end of that forum post on August 19th stating:
I'm still off until next week. Then I can try to build new pkg's :)
Is there anything else we can provide? I no longer have the repo installed due to this issue but I'm willing to re-install it to provide any info you need, but I need to know exactly what you need/where from.
Reminder that franco stated in that forum post:
Hmm, I'm not sure when Michael did the last rebuild. Maybe package versions and dependencies have gone out of sync between the two. In that case a package rebuild is all it needs to stop acting weirdly.
