Get default location from Google Talk

Closed this issue · 5 comments

If the person IMing just says "zmanim" you should be able to figure out
their default location.

How are you suggesting I'd be able to figure that out? Google talk does not
provide
that information, as far as I know...

Can you get their IP address? Then you can get their location (or close to it).

I don't think you can get their IP address. That would be quite a security flaw
if
you could.

The only way it's possible to get location is via Google Latitude, which not so
many
people use. In any case, with the ability for a user to set their location,
this is
pretty much pointless. I vote that we classify this as WontFix.
