Re-build stable 0.6.x documentation with warning about deprecation and linkcode pointing to maint/0.6

The 0.6.3 stable doc-build online has broken "source" links created by linkcode. The links should point to the maint/0.6 branch.
The documentation should be updated to mention the deprecation and removal of the old APIs in the new major release, as part of the release process.
