Feature: Insert page numbers and or header/footers

Some uploaded PDFs may not have page numbers already. It would nice if we could add page numbers for the user in that case. A few options like page number middle bottom, page number upper outer corner, or page number outer corner plus author on even number pages and title on odd would be nice.
I want to be cautious about getting into the typesetting realm... it's a very different field and a lot of the use cases that this was initially designed to support do not need that feature...
I'm not saying "no" -- but would perhaps encourage a different project (that we can link to!) for such manipulations.
Other ideas for a similar spin off would be excluding/skipping PDF pages, merging multiple PDFs into one, and cropping PDF pages (that frequent "I have a scan of a book spread and want to turn it into a single page PDF"
That said, I've got a project coming up for Edible Book Day that needs this very thing so would be happy to collaborate/talk elsewhere about getting this coded up
