NULL array when creating a new groupformation

When creating a new presentation group formation, I get the error message
Warning: in_array() expects parameter 2 to be array, null given in /Users/loewis/work/moodle/mod/groupformation/debug_actions.php on line 43
The Moodle version is 2018051702.00 (release 3.5.2); the plugin version is 2018062300 (v1.6.2)
