PNG file causing "upload URL might be wrong or doesn't exist" error

We've used plupload in PHP for 3 or 4 years without issue but recently we've started getting "upload URL might be wrong or doesn't exist" errors. I've attached a PNG file that causes this.
Interestingly, if I open the file in Photoshop and resave it as a PNG (either interlaced, or not), it uploads correctly. Of course, I can't ask our users to be doing that!
Anyone seen anything similar?
