Can you open other solutions which do not contain DNX projects?

I can see what looks like two file system monitors waiting. The UI callstack does not really show me anything. The UI callstack just shows the startup part of Xamarin Studio:

"GUI Thread" at <0xffffffff>
at (wrapper managed-to-native) Gtk.Application.gtk_main () 
at Gtk.Application.Run () 
at MonoDevelop.Ide.IdeApp.Run ()

Was this solution created in Xamarin Studio?
Can you load the solution when Mono 4.2 is installed?

I tested it with a brand new dnx solution. Other solutions open up fine.
I was able to create and open a new dnx solution with 4.2 but couldn't hit breakpoints after setting them.

I'll try again on 4.3 but create a new solution this time.

I expect it will hang when creating a new solution since this will load a new solution. The solutions created should be the same. The only difference is if Xamarin Studio 5.9 is used since that sets the ToolsVersion to 4.0 in the project file. Xamarin Studio 5.10 sets ToolsVersion to 14.0.

So it looks like Mono 4.3 is causing the hang for an unknown reason.

Fixed.
Solution:

  • Apply latest Mac OS X updates 10.11.2
  • Remove Xamarin Studio
  • Install Mono 4.3.2.155
  • Install Xamarin Studio 5.10 build 871
  • Rebuild dnx plugin
  • Reinstall plugin

Done. No idea why it wasn't working before but if I had to guess it would be 50% on OS, 50% on reinstalling Xamarin Studio from scratch

I can hit breakpoints now and it's great! Thanks.
Will this plugin become part of standard monodevelop?

Spoke too soon. Adding projects to a solution caused it to hang again.
Creating a new project/solution and adding a project to it fails, loading it works but if you try and rename things it becomes unreliable again.
At least I know it can work on the version I have and it's a data issue.

Got it open again. Won't ever close it now! Closing this issue. If it happens again, I'll reopen this only if I know how to consistently reproduce the issue.

I have had another report of Xamarin Studio hanging when opening a DNX project when using Mono 4.3. Also with Xamarin Studio 6.0 and Mono 4.3 I have seen a report that it hangs, without using the DNX addin.

I suspect the DNX addin will be separate addin for the immediate future. At some point it will hopefully be shipped out of the box with Xamarin Studio.

Where is the Mono 4.3.2.155, it is build from source code?

I made a instalation:
Mono 4.3 build 221
And Xamarin Studio 5.10

What would see was:

a) If I create a solution on the folder ~/Projects a have a problem, the project doesn't load;
b) If I create a solution that the name have a word project in the name the project doesn't load;
c) If I create a solution that your name have a word test same problem (In this case the project is not created).

d) I try to record the tests using Jing or QuickTime to record the screen, when using this applications the Xamarin Studio doesn't load the solution. Sometimes it create but the template is not applied in complete. In the case of the console template the Program.cs it is not created.

Take care about it I create a solution for Console and Web Application.

I put the projecto in another folder
~/Desktop/dev and I take care that the solution and projecto name doesnt
have the word project or test in your names

I dont know because why.

At the end, yuor solution cant have the word project or test in the name
and be in another folder that is not ~/project

Maybe the pluggin use this folder for something. I not take a look in this.
