The calendar disappears when the circle in the center stops

When I start OotD manually or runs on startup, the calendar is shown on the desktop but there's a circle in the middle of the calendar that rotates non-stop. When it finally stops, the calendar disappears from the desktop. This happens everytime I run the programme, so basically I can see the calendar for a limited time and then its gone.

The calendar also disappears when open or switch to any programme and go back to the desktop.

If I exit the programme (via the icon) and open it again, same results.

Only once, did it actually remain on the destktop. In this case, the Outlook icon appeared at the bottom. When I placed the cursor over the icon, it said that another programme was using Outlook (I assume OotD). This is the one and only time that the calendar was visible on the desktop and the rotating circle disappeared.

Screenshot (I cutted out all the appointments, but you can still see the circle in the middle)

I have the inverse problem. The calendar appears some times, with the circle quiet. But many times it does not load, and the circle just runs non-stop. Clicking in one of the view buttons several times (some times dozens of times) can eventually load the calendar. In that case the circle stops.
