Instant switch between 2 modes

Use case
As an user, I would like to switch quickly between Hint and Scroll mode.
Currently, once inside 1 mode, I need to Escape to quit the current mode first.
Suggestion
Pressing Ctrl + F or Ctrl + J allow to quit current mode and switch the other mode quickly.
