Exit button sometimes not working correctly

Sometimes, probably after running for a long time, the exit button is not working correctly. Additional logging could be helpful to track this problem.

I confirm that it is still not working. After 4 h run, the main window freezes and requires Ctrl+C on the command line to exit

I assume that there is an issue in the quitting of the threads. I added some additional logging statements to get more information. @sforoushani @kdadzis please use the latest commit and run with logging level 10 "DEBUG" (config.yml line 8), then we'll get further information.
