Links in the index are wrong

When building the HTML using a more recent version of mkdocs (>=1.0.1) the index links will sometimes not work. Look at PR #62 for details.
We need a way to use a given style (e.g. material) in a maintainable way, i.e. our customizations should be really easy to apply, the style to update, etc.
