RuntimeException Signaling server needs to be updated to be compatible with this version of Talk Failed to send message to signaling server

Closed this issue · 0 comments

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Nextcloud AIO
  2. Install Nextcloud Talk Container from AIO interface
  3. Use Nextcloud Talk with other users

Expected behavior

Nextcloud AIO installs the most up-to-date signalling software

Actual behavior

Nextcloud talk boots participants out of conversations, double or triple sends messages, and has regular 5-30 second delays when sending.

RuntimeException Signaling server needs to be updated to be compatible with this version of Talk Failed to send message to signaling server
The above error is spammed in the logs constantly as per this message 112 errors in the logs since October 22, 2025, 1:07:09 p.m.

This warning is also displayed in Nextcloud settings Defining multiple High-performance backends is deprecated and will no longer be supported in the upcoming version. Instead a load-balancer should be set up together with clustered signaling servers and configured in the Talk settings. For more details see the [documentation ↗](https://portal.nextcloud.com/article/Partner-Products/Talk-High-Performance-Backend/Nextcloud-Talk-High-Performance-Back-End-Requirements#content-clustering-and-use-of-multiple-hpbs).
