Approval Workflow With Guest Account Not Working

So using the Guest plugin I created a share (folder) and shared it with customer@address.com (example). I created the guest account with the password and can log in can only see the shared folder as intended.

Then using the Approval plugin I made an approval workflow as required (first time I used tags with spaces, then I redid the tags with hyphens instead). The workflow recognized and listed the guest account as an appropriate approver and allowed me to save the workflow.

When starting the workflow a bell alert is sent to the guest account stating that the admin account has requested your approval. When clicking on the bell alert it opens the file and then gives a "Failed to check approval status" popup alert. The same bell alert statement is also shown in the document activity as shown in the attached image. An option to approve or deny isn't available.

I also created a second workflow where the guest account was the one that could submit it and my admin account was the one that could approve it. I created a new document and went opening the document details to start the workflow as the guest the same "Failed to check approval status" alert appears and the option to start the workflow isn't present.

I did see another workflow post regarding guest approvals but I wasn't certain if they were talking about a different process and there weren't any replies. As such I can't tell if this is a bug or not. It would seem like it is, at least to me, because of the fact that the workflow options show the guest account and allows it it be included in the configuration. Also, since it doesn't seem to break until you get to the guest account. However, the fact that the guest account seems to be the culprit may suggest the opposite and they aren't supported (in which case I'm surprised the names appear in the sender and approver lists).

Thank you!
