iOS App crashes when pressing enter for a new line if the last character is an emoji - iOS 17

Strange bug just started this morning after I updated to iOS 17.

Starting a new line if the last character of the current line is an Emoji causes the app to crash. Starting a new line if there character is a space after an Emoji also causes a crash.

Tried toggling 'internal editor' on and off in the iOS app, it didn't make a difference.

Nextcloud version: 27.1.0
Notes App: 4.8.1
iOS App Version: 4.1.8
iOS version: 17.0
Device: iPhone 13 Pro

Confirmed the same behaviour on an iPad with iPadOS 17 and an external keyboard.

I have a very related problem. In my case it is a bit flaky:

  • sometimes everything works
  • sometimes it randomly crashes when typing a newline as the last character of a line (not only after emojis)
  • sometimes it only crashes when typing a newline after an emoji, which is the last character in the line.

In my case, this happens also since the update to iOS 17. Sadly, with this bug, the app is currently not useable.
