Bluetooth - Allow selecting Bluetooth speaker as output for calls

gerbrent opened this issue · 1 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Attempting to select a Bluetooth speaker (not a BT headset, i.e. no mic available) as audio output during a call is not possible. Currently does not present as an option while selecting audio outputs.

Describe the solution you'd like
Would love to show Bluetooth speakers as potential audio output destination, even while in a call.

Describe alternatives you've considered
(none)

Additional context
Note: from #1794

when connected to Bluetooth headset:
will be used.

when connected to Bluetooth speaker:
this won't be used. (and it shouldn't)

As a user, I disagree with this decision.

Specific use-case:
An all-hands call/meeting/presentation where there are many listen-only attendees who specifically do not have mic permissions. Therefore, for that audience it is a listen-only call, and having the option to use Bluetooth speakers (no mic) as an option would be nice.

Tested this use case again today and discovered an Android Bluetooth setting was disabled which caused this behaviour: Settings > Bluetooth > [Bluetooth Device] > Phone Calls > Enable

When this setting is enabled, the Bluetooth device behaves as expected in a call as output-only destination.

so, closing as already implemented 👍🏻
