Fork, Commit, Merge - Easy Issue (C)
Create a Function to Sum Two Numbers in C
Note: You don't have ask permission to start solving the issue or get assigned, since these issues are supposed to be always open for new contributors. The actions-user bot will reset the file back to previous state for the next contributor after your commit is merged. So you can just simply start working with the issue right away!
Navigate to the tasks/c/easy
directory from the root of your project.
Then open a file called sum.c
.
Your task is to write a C function named sum
that will take two integers as arguments and return their sum.
Requirements
Function Signature:
The function should have the following signature:
int sum(int a, int b);
Function Behavior:
The function should return the sum of a and b.
Demonstration
In addition to the sum
function, write a main function that does the following:
- Prompt the user to enter two integers.
- Read these integers using
scanf
. - Call the
sum
function to get the sum. - Print the result using
printf
.
Expected Output:
Running the program should have an output similar to the following:
Enter two numbers: 5 3
The sum is: 8
Bonus
(Optional) Implement the sum
function without using the +
operator. Document how you achieved this in your PR.
To test the program you have to first make sure you are in the right directory:
cd tasks/c/easy
Then you have to compile the file:
gcc sum.c -o sum
Then you can run the compiled program:
./sum
If the program works as requested in the task, you are ready to make a pull request!
To work with this issue, you need to have C installed to your local machine.
Check out README.md for more instructions of installing C and how to make a pull request.
