Clean up unused code and assets

This is a follow-up issue to #547.

Now that the website uses an embeddable JupyterLite code console, there might be some unused code, assets and CSS still around that can be cleaned up.

One other followup that to my eyes might be nice is if we centered the "Try NumPy". Probably this means that the console should be the same height as the example as well.
