Anything else we should know?

I have not updated to MacOS Tahoe yet. The version of MacOS I'm running is 15.6.1 (24G90), and this is running on an m4 pro macbook pro.

Be aware, the "Elgato Game capture HD software" 2.11.14 is able to detect the device and works correctly.

Here is the USB details as revealed by System Information:

Game Capture HD:

Product ID: 0x005c
Vendor ID: 0x0fd9 (Elgato Systems GmbH)
Version: 1.00
Serial Number: 11118F4168
Speed: Up to 480 Mb/s
Manufacturer: Elgato Systems
Location ID: 0x00100000 / 1
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): 500
Extra Operating Current (mA): 0

As far as I know, the drivers that would be needed for obs to be able to use that device do not exist for apple silicon macs.
The elgato app can use it because it is directly pulling the feed from the device, but obs cannot do that, it needs a driver, which elgato do not make.

I would advise using the device in the elgato app and using a screen capture source to bring that in obs.

For the future, you can check the compatibility of elgato products with apple silicon on this page.

These older Elgato capture devices are not UVC devices, i.e. they do not work like standard USB capture devices. These devices are not compatible with OBS or other software that does not implement the proprietary protocol to talk to them.
