Dealing with state issues

Going over the list of open (Emacs) tickets I've noticed there are quite a few tickets that have had no activity for years or that were resolved but remained open. How do you feel about add https://github.com/probot/stale to the repo? I've been using it for a few years on my bigger OSS projects and it really helps to de-clutter stuff and focus on the most important/active issues.

Can't say I'm a fan. It just discourages people from reporting non trivial issues if they know they're going to be closed eventually.

I used to think the same before seeing how issues tend to die naturally when no one touches them for a while. In a sense those staleness checks actually encourage us to do something about the issues (other than just ignore them) - e.g. fix them or close them. Some more thoughts on the topic here https://metaredux.com/posts/2019/05/09/always-be-closing.html

Anyways, if you don't like the idea that's totally fine. I'm well aware that's a somewhat controversial topic.
