Configuring mail notifications

I'm not sure how to configure mail notifications. I was hoping there would be some examples in the documentation, but i couldn't find any.
I don't have a mail server so i was hoping it would be possible for Smokeping to send a mail notification to an Outlook email address. If it needs a configured 'from' email address, i have another Outlook email address.
Configuration in General:
mailhost = outlook.office365.com
Configuration in Alerts:
to = (my primary email address)
from = (my secondary email address)
I don't have any other configurations regarding mail notifications. I'm hoping someone can help me
