ohmyzsh/aws plugin aws profile not persisting across sessions

marshandrewg opened this issue · 1 comments

Went to use the feature of profile persisting across sessions and didn't seem to work. Setting the flag AWS_PROFILE_STATE_ENABLED and a new directory AWS_STATE_FILE, upon opening another shell instance $AWS_PROFILE is still unset, and no aws cli commands work as expected. Had to copy the selected code and paste at the end of my .zshrc - after this it works perfectly without issue.

if [[ "$AWS_PROFILE_STATE_ENABLED" == true ]]; then

  AWS_STATE_FILE="${AWS_STATE_FILE:-/tmp/.aws_current_profile}"
  test -s "${AWS_STATE_FILE}" || return

  aws_state=($(cat $AWS_STATE_FILE))

  export AWS_DEFAULT_PROFILE="${aws_state[1]}"
  export AWS_PROFILE="$AWS_DEFAULT_PROFILE"
  export AWS_EB_PROFILE="$AWS_DEFAULT_PROFILE"

  test -z "${aws_state[2]}" && AWS_REGION=$(aws configure get region)

  export AWS_REGION=${AWS_REGION:-$aws_state[2]}
  export AWS_DEFAULT_REGION="$AWS_REGION"
fi

Here's my associated ~/.zshrc - when I get some time I'll spin up a minimal one as well

# Enable Powerlevel10k instant prompt. Should stay close to the top of ~/.zshrc.
# Initialization code that may require console input (password prompts, [y/n]
# confirmations, etc.) must go above this block; everything else may go below.
if [[ -r "${XDG_CACHE_HOME:-$HOME/.cache}/p10k-instant-prompt-${(%):-%n}.zsh" ]]; then

AWS_PROFILE_STATE_ENABLED=true needs to go near the top, before Oh My Zsh is sourced.
